Step 1
Add the circles for the eyes
Step 2
Shade in the eyes. Show where the eyes are looking by adding a white reflective circle inside. Finally, adding a hint of an iris reflection can really enhance the character’s cuteness. Creative idea: is your character looking at something? Place the reflective circles towards what you want your character to look at!
Step 3
Now let’s draw the mouth. Creative idea: what kind of expression would you like your character to have: Is your character in shock with a circular gaping mouth? Does it have teeth? Is it talking? You decide!
Step 4
Next draw eyebrows. Creative idea: raise the eyebrows if you want your character to look shocked, arch the eyebrows if your character is thinking, arch them even more if your character is angry or grumpy.
Step 5
Create the carrots body by drawing an upside down U-shape. The lower half of the carrot will be hidden by the garden soil.
Step 6
Now, let’s draw the top of the carrot. Add lines where the stem is sprouting.
Step 7
Start adding the first leafy stem to your carrot. Creative idea: Instead of just thinking of your carrot’s top as leaves try thinking of it as a hair-do. What kind of hair would you like your character to have? Short? Tall? Stringy? Curvey?
Step 8
Finish the first leaf
Step 9
Now add the second leaf
Step 10
Almost there! Add the third leaf
Step 11
Add the last leaf. Feel free to add as many or as few of leaves as you would like, this is your creation!
Step 12
Add the line where the carrot will be popping out of the soil.
Step 13
Now it’s time to start adding detail to our character. Carrots that grow in the garden are usually not smooth to the touch. Add lines to your carrot to reflect its rough texture.
Step 14
Add detail to the leaves
Step 15
Almost done! Start to mound the dirt around the carrot. Draw loose hills of soil sloping down from the carrot.
Step 16
Finally, add some stones and pebbles to your garden soil. Place some stones on top of the soil and some stuck in the dirt.
Amazing Job!
Woohoo! You've just harvested a perfectly adorable carrot character! Now it's time to add some color and spice to your veggie friend's life. So grab your brightest crayons, markers, or paints and let's turn this black-and-white sketch into a colorful veggie tale. Remember, in the world of imagination, your carrot can be the star of any story – from comedy to adventure. Let's make this little root really come alive!
